For ten years now, friends and colleagues of Dave Hancock have come together to raise funds for SUCCESS BY 6® and to enjoy a fabulous day of golf. All tournament proceeds go directly to programs and initiatives that focus on ensuring children prenatal to age 6 in our community are healthy and well prepared to achieve their full potential. The tenth anniversary tournament in 2009 at Blackhawk Golf Club was another resounding success, raising over $120,000 for the charity, and bringing the grand total raised since 2000 to over $1 million.
In celebration of the legacy year of the tournament and the family literacy program it supports, renowned children's author David Poulsen has written a commemorative book that speaks to the challenges that all kids face with fitting in and growing up; the need to nurture the passions and interests of our children so that they can grow up to be happy, healthy and contributing adults; and the importance of fostering inclusive and caring communities. Everyone involved in the Dave Hancock Charity Classic recognize the significance of the themes that David touches on in his book. At the heart of the book and the tournament are a focus on enabling all children to have a great start to life in their early years.

SUCCESS BY 6® recognizes the importance of the first six years of a child's life and supports literacy as part of the social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional development of a child. Learning begins at birth, so it follows that a child's literacy is shaped largely by experiences at home.
