Dave Hancock: Edmonton's Voice in Alberta's Future
Minister of Human Services

Dave currently serves as Alberta's Minister of Human Services, a new ministry that manages supports for children and youth, employment and immigration, and homelessness.

Premier Redford issued mandate letters to all of her Cabinet ministers, entrusting Dave with the following responsibilities:

  • Involving other Ministers, lead the development of a social policy framework to guide the alignment and redesign of social policy and programs to achieve better outcomes for children and families.
  • Establish the Child and Youth Advocate as an independent officer of the Legislature.
  • Create the Alberta Interagency Council on Homelessness to lead the implementation of A Plan for Alberta: Ending Homelessness in 10 Years.
  • Ensure information sharing practices within government and with service agencies support the best decisions possible in regard to the health, education and safety of children and families.
